Head down to the Queen Victoria Gardens in Southbank to see the latest in the series of temporary pavilions in Melbourne. Take in a talk, workshop or performance, or simply wander around in wonder - this unique contemporary and cultural space is not to be missed! (Our tip? Go at sunset, and prepare to be moved.)
5 Oct - 7 Feb 2016, Queen Victoria Gardens, St Kilda Road.
Melbourne Knowledge Week
Beginning on October 19, this week-long festival celebrates the latest trends, ideas and innovations of Melbourne's knowledge sector. Expand your brain in ways you never expected. Or follow our lead and use someone else's! - we think the Human Library sounds like one not to miss. It works just like a library, except that humans provide the knowledge through one-on-one conversations. Trippy! (Library at The Dock, 107 Victoria Harbour Promenade, Docklands, 24 Oct from 10am to noon. Bookings essential.)
The Rivoli turns 75!
One of Melbourne's favourite cinemas and most iconic buildings is celebrating turning 75 this month by screening a weekly film classic series - culminating in a Gala (of course!) on October 25. We love any excuse for a costume, so why not pull out your best beaded knee-length flapper frock, and get along to Casablanca, Vertigo or Shawshank Redemption.
4-25 Oct, The Rivoli Cinema, 200 Camberwell Road, Hawthorn East 3123
